TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat, July 13 (PIA) - Making sure that peace and order programs do not take a back seat in governance, the local government unit allocated additional funds intended for Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) initiatives in Tacurong City.
In the recent meeting of the City Peace and Order Council, Mayor Angelo 'Roncal' Montilla told the members that the LGU has set aside funds from supplemental budget amounting to P9,313,000.00 intended for POPS program.
City Budget Officer Imelda Pamplona said that the fund was sourced from last year's retained earnings or savings of the LGU.
Out of the total budget, P2 million is allocated to purchase additional gadgets and cameras for the existing CCTV system. The CCTV network of the city has been in place since 2019 but the mayor sees the need to continually enhance the system like installation of additional cameras in other strategic areas.
Another P2.7 million is allotted for civil security support program and P4 million is for peacekeeping mobilization support program.
The remaining P613,000 is intended for traffic management and enforcement support programs.
Mayor Montilla said that while the LGU is currently giving its full attention to COVID-19 responses, we must see to it that other programs such as those related to peace and order are not sacrificed.
"Protecting our city from internal and external threats is always on top of our goals; indi naton i-allow ang pandemya nga ini nga mag-compromise sa seguridad sang aton syudad," Montilla said. (ASF,LGU Information/ACA)
