Having stemmed from the latin duo "Rey y Kaye" Kaye-L is no stranger to the Northern California music scene. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Kaye-L was directly impacted as it had halted his plans and "Free The Love Tour" he had just launched with DJ Eddie Z prior to the pandemic. However, instead of hitting the pause button on his music, Kaye-L decided to take advantage of the extra time at home and started a web series on instagram called "Sixty Second Sessions (Quarantine Edition)". In the series Kaye-L would cover trending songs, write his own verses and add his "flip" to the song. Posting new videos every Monday through Friday.
"The series was a way for me to have fun, practice and showcase my craft and put a smile on peoples faces in a time when media can be overwhelmingly sad." Said Kaye-L. The series quickly gained attention on social media and even led to his discovery by his current manager Wayne Hayes.
Hayes would later have Kaye-L compete and win a contest put on by Clayton William and Beat Bangers. Kaye-L's contest video quickly caught the attention of DJs all over the country and has aided in exposing Kaye-L to many new opportunities.
"Regardless" is the first song Kaye-L has released under the Empire umbrella. Kaye-L chose the song to be his first release as he wanted to inspire, encourage and use his story to show what being optimistic and not giving up can do.
The song features music by Fre$h On The Beat who is best known for his work with E-40. Back vocals by Myra who is best known for her hit "Miracles Happen" from the Disney movie princess diaries. Mixed and arranged by Q Made The Beat and mastered by Clayton William.
"It's amazing the amount of talented ears I have behind this record. I'm honored to work with such an amazing team and excited for the world to hear not only the message and words but the quality behind the music and production." Said Kaye-L.
You can listen to "Regardless" now on all streaming platforms.
