While government mandates have played an essential role in helping mitigate the spread of the virus, many students are currently struggling to adapt to a new education landscape.
NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / January 13, 2021 / The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to have a lasting impact on the global education system. With a wide range of government mandates and stay-at-home orders, students worldwide have had to adapt to a new sense of normalcy.
Prominent film producer Lindsay Guion recently sat down to discuss why some students are struggling to adjust to online learning. 'While e-learning is certainly supporting education through these unprecedented times, remote learning does not come without its challenges,' states Guion.
He further states that after years of classroom instruction, many students are struggling to engage with course materials. At-home learning is making it significantly harder for students to learn and process information. Additionally, some individuals may not have access to the proper online resources which often result in IT issues.
With the abrupt transition to online learning, teachers are also noting computer illiteracy among students. Those who are not tech-savvy have had to adjust quickly to an online curriculum. With the stress of the transition, many students have also been unwilling to embrace technology unfamiliar to them.
To help ease students into online learning, he recommends teachers utilize collaborative platforms such as discussion boards and video conferencing applications to enhance communication efforts. He also suggests regular check-ins with students and their families to ensure a positive student-teacher dynamic.
